Description
This is a cross-sectional study to describe the epidemiology of thalassemia in Sabah in the aspects of disease burden, disease outcome, blood transfusion, transplant, treatment, complications, quality of life and public health screening efforts. This study also intends to compare the aforementioned Sabah epidemiological parameters to that of Malaysia, whenever data becomes available. The study will take place in Hospital Wanita dan Kanak-kanak, Hospital Queen Elizabeth, Hospital Queen Elizabeth 2, Sabah State Health Department and National Institutes of Health. The duration of the research is one year.

Inclusion & Exclusion Criteria
Inclusion Criteria
All thalassemia patients registered in the MTR from 01 January 2007 till 31 December 2023 will be included.
Exclusion Criteria
As this is a secondary data analysis using nationwide registry, all recorded responses will be included. There are no exclusion criteria. However, cases where the important variable is missing, e.g., thalassemia diagnosis, will be regarded as missing data and be excluded from analysis. The number of cases that meet this exclusion criteria is expected to be very minimal.
